Crack-like Crackdown, surpassing 14,000 and cheating for points

To get 14,000 achievement points on my XBox 360 it’s taken a lot of games. I’m not going to waste my time finishing bad games, overly difficult games, or games I don’t like just for points. I can just send the game back and rent another one, why aggravate myself.
Don’t get me wrong I’ve got some stinkers on my GamerCard, but everyone’s played a few stinkers.

I just recently rented Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and the game was amazing. Awesome story, nice look, good controls, but man was it tough for a Halo fan. I’m a run-and-gunner. I don’t want to wait for 20 minutes behind cover, taking potshots while getting hit with the same. The only problem was I wanted to follow the storyline, too. I used the widely available invincibility cheats for the game and it allowed me to complete it and see the end. I also used the cheats to beat the game on Hard mode.
Now, put away the torches and pitchforks. I’m not one for cheating. I rarely use cheats to beat games. But in this case, I had the game for more than a month and I had to return it. I have Gamefly, so there’s no late fee, but I’m costing myself money by not getting a new game. The cheats allowed me to see the ending, get some points, and send it back.
And before anyone starts jumping down my throat about not achieving my achievements, it is widely understood that simulating season after season of sports games will unlock achievement points. All of my sports achievements, with the exception of my Madden Superstar points, can be attributed to playing the games. More than 9,000 of my points came from playing sports games.
Speaking of sports games, I played some college football a few weeks ago, some NBA Live 06 before that, but I’m excited about MLB2K7. I played the demo. There are some bugs, but it’s the only baseball game I can get points for so that settled that.
I also got Crackdown a week ago. I wanted in the Halo 3 beta and I liked the Crackdown demo. So it was a good fit.
I didn’t have a chance to play it all week. I was so sick I was green. It sat on the table, unwrapped, staring at me every day after work. Feeling a little better yesterday, I finally decided to “pop it in for an hour.” That hour turned into 3.
There’s something about this superhero-like game. You level up your agility, shooting, explosives, driving, etc. All the bosses play the same, it’s just their environments and henchmen that change. Yet, I still kept playing it. Look for a full review on Sloppy Potatoes when it’s complete. I’ll be posting reviews of Gears of War, GRAW and possibly a few Xbox Live Arcade games this week.
Alright, points last week from GRAW (475) and Crackdown (20).
The total right now stands at 14,175.
