Breaking 15K

Xbox360 Point total is currently at 15,020. Yep, turned 15,000 the other day with the help of EA’s NHL 07. Standard sports game fare here. Have a player score a goal, win a game in Rookie mode, win one in Superstar mode. The game AI (and sports-game cheating) became more frustrating the longer I played. But the achievements themselves were almost as fun as checking a bunch of fools into the boards. I’ve earned 625 so far and will keep the rental for a few more days to get some more.

I also downloaded the TMNT arcade game, yeah, the four-player deal. Awesome game, dude. Beat it in no time, but died a lot in the process. I earned three achievements and 20 points during the playthrough. I’ll go back and try for a few more sometime soon. Cowabunga.

I also downloaded Alien Hominid HD. Really, if you haven’t played this game and you like games you must. It’s not easy, don’t get me wrong. The little yellow worm kicked the crap out of me. But it’s an action/shooter/platformer with an awesome art style and tight controls. So far I’ve earned a measly five points on the game, but that was only during about an hour of playtime.

Finally got to play some MLB 2K7, too. Great game. Love it. Sure, like Nomar Garciaparra’s glove checking nonsense, there are some annoying quirks. But I don’t think anyone will ever be able to make a sports gamer completely pleased with a title. 2K7 takes a pretty good shot at it. Pitching is fun, hitting is homer or nothing a lot of the time, but most baseball games are like that. As good as this one is, I can’t wait to see what they might be able to do with one more year of refinement.

With the NCAA Basketball Championships going on it’s going to take a while to reach 16,000. Still expect an update close to a week from this coming Monday.
