KNEE JERK — 2008 NFL Draft: Tennessee Titans
Are the Tennessee Titans helmed by morons?
How was Limas Sweed not the pick at 24?
You can’t tell me franchise QB Vince Young wouldn’t love to play pitch and catch with his college alum, a 6-4 beast that would give them a legitimate WR threat. And think of the fantasy footbal potential in that scenario… delicious, isn’t it?
This was an absolute blown pick. I don’t care about a 4.24 in the 40 run by East Carolina’s Chris Johnson. If you are a RB for a school like East Carolina, you should not get drafted in the first round unless you put up numbers like Central Florida’s Kevin Smith.
Moves like this keep also-rans in that category. Teams get several picks in this draft, but you can’t blow the first-rounder. Whether a player ends up being a bust or not. You need to take the best players and assume they’re going to work out.
I don’t think I’d be this upset if they picked a OT, G, or a defensive player, but to pick a skill player and not a WR, it’s a shame.
Maybe they’ll try to run the option? Atlanta tried that with speedsters Mike Vick and Warrick Dunn — it doesn’t work.
