Publisher denies Bungie announcement
Nooooooo. Alright, it’s not that big a deal. It’s only an announcement, but for Halo and Bungie fans, what the company does and is doing is a big deal. They craft absolutely amazing games so something new is highly-anticipated.
While Bungie President Harold Ryan makes the disappointing announcement at www.bungie.net, there are plenty of rumors out there. For more on those rumors and the post on bungie’s site, click through the break.
While there are no official details, Kotaku’s got some interesting articles they’ve compiled regarding these rumors. Among other things, they say Bungie is working on a Master Chief-less Halo game. They rumorcize that it is a squad based game somewhere between Ghost Recon and Gears of War (two great games that would go great together). It’ll be interesting to see how everything works out, but a squad-based shooter in Haloland would be killer.
If that is the design choice, then the option to go without MC is probably a good call. He pretty much single-handedly saved the universe over the course of the Halo trilogy and never really needed the AI “support” provided for him.
Either way we’ll have to wait.
