Vacation ramblings and some links
Today is the final day of one of the most awesome vacations on record. So much done, but so little done. Among the things I wanted to do was beat a videogame. I have about 800 or so that are on a will-finish pile, dating back to the PS2, GameCube and Xbox.
I played a couple games of NCAA Football 09, a little Geometry Wars 2 and when a friend stopped over we played a little Halo 3, Gears of War and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 multiplayer, but for the most part I did not really sit down for a gaming session. It’s a little disappointing, but the days were too jampacked with other things. Golf, tennis, many drinks, more golf, a few more drinks and a couple fantasy football drafts.
Like I’ve said at 365.sloppypotatoes.com, these sites have really jumped to the top of my hobby list. I don’t write at work anymore, so this provides me with an outlet for that. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still playing games, just not as often. Over the 10-day vacation, I also rekindled my fantasy football jones, so there will be more of that here in upcoming posts.
I don’t want to make promises I can’t keep, with a full-time job and other commitments it will be tough, but I plan to spend an hour per day working at Sloppy Potatoes. That hour might be spent on things other than writing, like commenting on other blogs and tweaking the look of the site, but I’ll be here working at it.
Not really much in the way of content here I know, just rambling. But, you should really check out my impressions of Geometry Wars 2, and my thoughts on the Holy Fantasy Trinity of K-Def-TE. I posted both of those fairly recently.
I’ll leave you with a couple links to check out.
- First, www.deadspin.com is one of my new favorite blog stops. It is a phenomenal site with great sports news and commentary. If you get a chance, check it out. Better yet, put it on your RSS reader right now and check it daily.
- Also, Sporting News is changing things up and they deserve some recognition. The longtime great sports magazine is changing it’s format to a bi-weekly on high stock paper, probably similar to ESPN the Magazine. Their new Sporting News Today, a daily online newspaper, is just phenomenal. Sign up for it at their site. If the design tweaks in the mag and the online edition are any indication, the new magazine should be out-of-this-world. Can’t wait for the next issue.
