It’s called Halo 3: Recon, and it will be awesome
That’s right, I can rate it right now and call it a 10. Yes, I’m biased, but in the game industry Bungie Studios may as well be King Midas.
Here is the video reveal for the company’s latest, and many times teased, endeavor, courtesy of Joystiq.
There is no doubt in my mind that Halo 3: Recon, revealed with the tagline “New hero, new campaign. Prepare to drop,” is going to rock our faces to jelly. Here
Let me explain why:
Halo: Combat Evolved was a first person shooter that got us out of the dank hallways and into huge sprawling landscapes. It also introduced how FPSs should control and play on consoles. It was revolutionary, with a great multiplayer component, and sold a crapload of Xboxes.
Then Halo 2 hit. Sure the campaign ended abruptly, but it introduced us to the Brutes and continued the Halo storyline — I know some hate it, but I like it. Oh and that great multiplayer went online. And all of us went online, everybody. We made Xbox Live, by the way. It was Xboxes killer game, literally. Major League Game built itself on this game. People are still playing it online, despite the release of…
…Halo 3. Yes, the culmination of the franchise. It released 9.25.07, and it was awesome. Online multiplayer was streamlined and updated, the campaign kinda completed — you have seen the real ending right? They recently announced new achievements, and now Halo 3: Recon.
If you haven’t seen the video yet, it appears to put you in the armor of an Orbital Drop Shock Troop (ODST) member. You drop into a city and will at least be battling a Brute army. Who knows what’s in store, but if anyone remembers the introduction of the flood in the first game, the Scarab in the second game or the pure flood in the third game, there will be a surprise or two.
Also, could there be more surprises in store for us in multiplayer? Bungie has already announced new maps. Will be there be new weapons? Armor? Vehicles? only time will tell. For now, head on over to www.bungie.org to see what they’re saying.
Also, if you haven’t checked out my Halo 3 page, please go there. It is the most visited page on the site.
